Associate Vice President•Equity Analyst
Abubakar Idris is an equity analyst for CIBC Private Wealth in Boston. In this role, he is responsible for performing fundamental research in the public equity space across growth and value businesses of all market caps, helping to identify and inform attractive investment opportunities for the firm’s Core Growth team.
Prior to joining the firm, Abubakar was a summer associate in the Global Investment Research (GIR) division at Goldman Sachs, where he covered US fintech and payment companies. Previously, he held research and reporting roles at The Information, Rest of World and TechCabal, through which he built a strong reputation for thoughtful, research-driven insights while producing in-depth analysis on technology, venture capital and market structure.
Abubakar earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and international studies from Kogi State University in Nigeria and a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University. He also has a Post-Graduate Certificate in business and economics journalism from the Columbia Journalism School, where he was a Knight-Bagehot Fellow. Additionally, he previously served on the Advisory Board of TC Insights, the market intelligence arm of African media company, Big Cabal Media.
