Portfolio Manager
Adam Karpf is a portfolio manager for CIBC Private Wealth’s Energy Infrastructure strategy.
Adam has been analyzing the Energy Infrastructure industry for over 20 years, when he became a senior analyst in the equity research team at Lehman Brothers. In 2006 he was ranked No. 1 in the Oil Equipment, Services and Distribution industry in The Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” Survey in the United States. Prior to joining CIBC, Adam was the head of the Energy infrastructure research team and a portfolio manager at Magnetar Capital. In 2011, Adam was a portfolio manager on the Invesco Master Limited Partnership Strategy, which was ranked top performer equity SMA in the United States, according to Morningstar ranking.
Adam was selected as a Board Adviser to the Tortoise Acquisition Corp I (2019), Tortoise Acquisition Corp II (2020) and Rice Acquisition Corp I (2020). The Rice Acquisition Corp 1 SPAC brought Archaea Energy public, which was acquired by BP for $4.1B in 2022. Additionally, Adam was selected to the Board of Directors to Haliburton’s Envana (2023) and Breakthrough Energy Ventures M2X Energy (2024). Adam was also selected as a Senior Adviser to Conifer Infrastructure Partners private equity team in 2025.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from Lehigh University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
