Charles Devaney is the head of equity management and portfolio oversight for CIBC Private Wealth with over 20 years of industry experience. In this role, he is responsible for equipping the equity team with the tools and resources needed to deliver strong, risk-adjusted investment performance, along with overseeing strategic planning, talent development and optimization of the proprietary equity product line. Additionally, he leads the firm’s portfolio oversight program, including the design, implementation and oversight of the trade order management function of proprietary managed separate account investment strategies. Charles is also responsible for the administration of the firm’s investment review process and implementing the compliance rules for client portfolios.

Prior to joining the firm, Charles served as a chief investment officer at Capital One Wealth & Asset Management, where he was responsible for the firm’s asset allocation framework, selection and due diligence of third-party investment solutions, oversight of the trading function and managing the firm’s governance, risk control and oversight framework.

Charles also served as chief investment officer of Morgan Stanley Trust, N.A., where he led the investment team responsible for direct oversight of client investment portfolios and served as a member of the senior executive team that formulated mission, strategy and objectives for Morgan Stanley Trust.

Charles earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Kean University and a Master of Business Administration degree, summa cum laude in finance from Saint Peter’s University.
