Chief Investment Officer
Gary Pzegeo is the chief investment officer for CIBC Private Wealth with more than 35 years of industry experience. In this role, he chairs the Asset Allocation Committee and oversees the US investment teams. He joined the firm in 2007 as head of fixed income with a focus on asset allocation, investment strategy, portfolio construction and client service. Gary is a member of the CIBC Private Wealth Operating Committee.
Gary has served as a trader, analyst, portfolio manager and investment team leader, focusing on global fixed income for institutional and private wealth managers. He began his career at Evergreen Investments in 1990 as managing director, leading the Investment Grade Bond team in portfolio management and market analysis. At Gannett, Welsh & Kotler, he served as vice president and head of taxable bonds, implementing disciplined investment processes and developing customized fixed income products for high-net-worth clients. Gary later returned to Evergreen as senior portfolio manager and specialist of high-yield bonds, where he enhanced macro portfolio themes, the risk management process for high-yield and multi-sector fixed income disciplines and client support for high-yield and multi-sector strategies.
As a leading investment manager, Gary’s expertise has been featured in various publications including Bloomberg, The New York Times, Reuters and CNBC.
Gary earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.
