Family Office Executive
John Welsh is a family office executve in CIBC’s Family Office Group, based in St. Louis and Chicago, with more than 15 years of experience. In this role, John collaborates closely with clients on strategies for addressing the complex personal, family and financial challenges that can accompany significant wealth and its impact on current and future generations. He manages all aspects of client relationships, serving as their trusted advisor and advocate, and leads a team of professionals to help clients integrate core values into their wealth planning and decision-making. John strives to skillfully translate vision and mission statements into actionable solutions for families, implement successful family communication strategies, and establish effective family governance structures and processes. Prior to joining the firm in 2022, John led the family office at Commerce Trust Company in St. Louis. Previously, John was a family wealth strategist for BNY Mellon Wealth Management, based in Chicago. Prior to that, John was an attorney in the private client group at McDermott Will & Emery in Chicago. John began his career as a certified public accountant working in the tax group at PwC based in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. John received his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Northwestern University School of Law.
