Managing Director

Scott Caven is a senior relationship manager and co-head of CIBC Private Wealth Management's Houston office, with more than 45 years of experience in the financial services industry. Scott's primary responsibilities include overseeing the firm's client service and new business efforts for the Texas region.

Prior to joining the firm in 2003, he held a number of positions with Goldman, Sachs & Co. in Dallas and Houston, including vice president and regional manager for Houston, south Texas and Mexico.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Texas School of Law.

Previously, he served as chairman and as a member of the board of regents of the University of Texas System and also chairman of the board of directors of the University of Texas Investment Management Co. (UTIMCO), one of the largest university system endowment funds in the U.S.​ He was listed in Barron’s Top Advisor Rankings by State in 2022.​
