Kurt Newsom is managing director for CIBC Private Wealth in Chicago, with over 10 years of industry experience.​

Prior to joining the firm, Kurt served as general counsel at Dearborn Partners LLC. He also served as president for the Young Associates Board of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, setting revenue and profit fundraising records for the organization that still stand today.​

Kurt brings a unique background to the advisory function, having earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification along with a joint J.D./M.B.A. degree from the University of Miami with a specialization in financial investments and corporate finance. The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP® and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ in the U.S​

He was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and The Bar and Gavel Honor Society. Also, he received the prestigious James S. Mofsky Memorial Service Award. Kurt received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.​

Kurt lives in Wheaton, Illinois with his wife Jennifer, daughter Emmy, and son Jack, where they enjoy golfing, spending time with their 14 nephews and nieces and watching Michigan football.
