Allison L. Smith

Managing Director

Allison Smith is the Private Banking Chief Operating Officer for CIBC Private Wealth in Chicago with more than 25 years of industry experience. In this role, she is responsible for oversight of the firm’s Private Banking portfolio, with a focus on the credit portfolio. She also serves as the liaison between front-line relationship and credit risk management teams and manages Underwriting for the firm’s national footprint as well as the Private Banking Client Service Team.

Prior to joining the firm, Allison was the Regional Director for Operations at BMO Private Bank, where she oversaw the implementation of strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations. She also held overall responsibility for initiatives management, workforce planning, compliance, audit/governance, administration functions and real estate management. Prior to that role, Allison was a Senior Vice President and Managing Director for BMO in Southeast Wisconsin, where she led a team of wealth management professionals serving high net worth individuals and families with various wealth management needs and goals.

Allison received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University, and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. 

Allison is a former member of the Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation board of directors, the Wisconsin Humane Society board of directors, the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design board of trustees, and previously volunteered on the Diocese of Venice’s financial council.
