Head of Private Banking
Dan Sullivan is a managing director and head of private banking for CIBC Private Wealth Management, with more than 25 years of industry experience. In this role, he is responsible for developing client relationships and working with personal and commercial clients to deliver CIBC’s broad array of wealth solutions to individuals, families and middle-market companies. Additionally, Dan is responsible for developing and leading CIBC Private Wealth Management’s strategy for deploying private banking solutions to markets across the U.S. He is also a member of both CIBC Bank USA and CIBC Private Wealth Management’s Operating Committees. Previously, he led the strategic development of CIBC’s personal advisory services offering, which included building integrated teams of private bankers and personal investment advisors.
Prior to joining CIBC Bank USA (formerly The PrivateBank, which became part of CIBC in 2017), Dan served on the international team of LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and later as a member of the transition team for Bank of America’s acquisition of LaSalle in 2007. Also while at Bank of America, he served as business manager to the CEO.
Dan received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Villanova University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago. He currently serves as a trustee of the Village of Wilmette, where he is a member of the Finance, Land Use and Municipal Services Committee. Prior to being elected to trustee of the Village, he served nearly 10 years on the Zoning Board of Appeals, which he chaired for more than five years. In addition, he has the privilege to serve as a member of Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke’s Judicial Review Committee and as a board member for both, The American Ireland Fund Chicago and The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association.
