Dan Sullivan is a managing director and head of private & personal banking for CIBC US with responsibility for our national private and retail banking teams & centers along with key strategic offerings from residential mortgage to digital technology solutions. In this role, he is responsible for leading the strategic plan and team that focuses on developing & deepening relationships through active work with personal and commercial clients by providing an array of solutions for individuals, families and middle-market companies. Dan is responsible for developing, building and leading the Private & Personal Banking strategy & team across CIBC US which includes client facing relationship bankers, product development, client service and front line risk oversight. He is a member of both CIBC Bank USA and CIBC Private Wealth Management’s Operating Committees, while also servicing as Chair of the US region’s Inclusion & Diversity committee as well as a member of the Global Inclusion Leadership committee. He is a member of CIBC’s credit risk, AML & compliance committees as well.
Prior to joining CIBC Bank USA in 2008 (formerly The PrivateBank, which became part of CIBC in 2017), Dan served on the international team of LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and later as a member of the transition team for Bank of America’s acquisition of LaSalle in 2007. Also while at Bank of America, he served as the chief of staff to the CEO. Upon joining The PrivateBank, he led the strategic development of CIBC’s personal advisory services offering, which included building integrated teams of private bankers and personal investment advisors.
Dan received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Villanova University and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago. In 2023, he completed eighteen years of service for the Village of Wilmette, most recently as a Village Trustee where he is a member of the Finance, Land Use, Judicial and Municipal Services Committee. Prior to being elected to trustee, he served nearly 10 years on the Zoning Board of Appeals, which he chaired for more than five years. He is also a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Associations board of trustees, where he chairs the annual corporate night program. In addition, he had the privilege of volunteering as a member of Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke’s Judicial Review Committee and remains active as a board member for The Ireland Fund’s Chicago chapter.
